Step by step pictorial instructions for disassembling and cleaning the Ruger LCP magazine.

  1. Hold magazine upside down and push down on the base plate retainer button. This will depress the retainer and release it from the floor plate. At the same time you depress the button, slide the base plate backward and off of the magazine. Do this slowly and contain the spring to keep it from popping out.

  2. Remove the spring from the magazine.

  3. Remove the follower. You may have to gently push it out with your finger or a pencil.

  4. Clean (wipe down) all parts if they look like they need it. Do not lubricate after cleaning.

  5. Reinstall the follower. It will only go in one way.

  6. Attach the magazine insert to the spring as shown. The bottom of the spring should fit into the mating part of the insert and "snap together".

  7. Insert the spring with insert into the magazine.

  8. Compress the spring with insert to below the lip of the magazine and slide the floor plate onto the bottom of the magazine until it if fully installed and the little button snaps into the corresponding hole in the floor plate.

  9. Load the magazine to verify that it is assembled properly.
