Fastest Shooter In The World Pops Balloon 8 Feet Away SHOOTING BLANKS

The first time I saw this video, I was impressed. This EXTREMELY MODEST "Fastest Shooter In The World" draws and hits balloons 8 feet away in .02 seconds. Fast and accurate, WOW! The second time I watched it, I paid closer attention and I heard the shooter say he was SHOOTING BLANKS out of his 45 caliber Colt pistol.

Popping balloons while shooting blanks, NICE TRICK!

So it must be that his gun shot residue (GSR) is what's hitting and popping the balloons?

Question is, "How Far Does The GSR Spread"? If it has a wide dispersion pattern, then simply pointing the gun in the right direction may cause the balloons to pop. I wondered how far the GSR spread.

Out of curiosity, I did a little experiment of my own. I wanted to see if the GSR from my Glock 19 9mm reloads would pop a balloon if I shot at the balloon (missing it by inches) from distances of 6 ft., 4 ft. and 3 ft. So I pinned a balloon next to my zombie target and tried it. I placed one shot an inch or so away from the balloon at each distance (see pictures).

My Glock 19 that I used for the test.  Another shooter said my bullet ricocheted off the balloon (joke).  Shooting Next To Balloon To See If GSR Would Pop It At 3 ft. Distance
Balloon Still Didn't Pop

THE BALLOON NEVER POPPED!

All it did was shake a little bit each time I shot. That's not what I expected.

I expected it to pop for sure at the 3 ft. distance, but NO.

So Why Did His Balloon Pop and Mine Didn't?

Possible Reasons

  1. His 45 caliber blanks give out more GRS than my 9mm reloads.

  2. The balloon that he used may have been fully "blown up" and stretched to near it breaking point, making it easier to pop (mine wasn't).

  3. Maybe the shock wave or pressure from the blast helps pop the balloon (doubtful).
